He was awarded MD in cardiology in 1994 following a period of original research. Since being appointed as Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Swan has been instrumental in the development of a new and very successful Interventional Cardiology service for the North East Manchester region based in the Pennine Acute Trust’s Silver Heart Unit.
Dr Swan provides a full cardiac assessment and treatment service in the private sector. He sees private patients in rooms at Newbury Place in North Manchester and at Highfield Hospital in Rochdale. He performs angiography and coronary artery stenting at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.
He offers a singular provider approach to his private patients. This involves initial consultation, assessment and examination. Further investigations are recommended and Dr Swan performs most of these directly, including echocardiography, exercise tolerance tests, ECG and blood pressure monitoring. If necessary he will go on to perform coronary angiography and stenting.
